Coda's inception in 2014 stemmed from a straightforward observation: Despite the abundance of pre-built tools and applications, documents and spreadsheets held a significant sway over the world. The founding members of Coda, who had previously collaborated at Google, YouTube, and Microsoft, witnessed firsthand the immense capabilities of spreadsheets and documents within their respective teams. Motivated by this realization, they joined forces in 2014 to create the document they had always envisioned—one that obliterated the traditional distinctions between words and data. This vision aimed to foster collaborative work, allowing everyone to contribute in their unique manner while operating on a shared dataset.
