What is Lucidchart?
Lucidchart is a great web-based diagramming program for all operating systems (PC, Mac, Linux). Lucidchart releases updates to user accounts every month so the program continues to improve as you use it. We support Visio import and export, and you can export your diagram as a PDF or image. Lucidchart includes all the standard libraries that you would expect from a Visio alternative, including: flowcharts, swimlanes, ERD, wireframes, UML, Venn diagrams, mind mapping and other specialized libraries. If you don't find the library that you are looking for, you can always create your own by importing .svg files into a new custom library. Diagrams as a reporting tool sounds odd until you actually try it. Five years into using Lucidchart across our operations department, and the thing that keeps me coming back is how well it bridges the gap between raw process data and something leadership can actually read in a meeting. I build dashboard-style flow diagrams that map our quarterly workflows, layering in status indicators and swim lanes so stakeholders can scan a single chart and understand bottlenecks without needing a separate analytics tool. The revision history feature is genuinely useful for tracking how a process evolved over time, which is its own kind of reporting.
The Confluence and Google Drive integrations are where Lucidchart earns its keep in a department our size. I can embed a live diagram into a project brief and it updates without anyone touching the doc. Customer support has been responsive the few times I needed it, though the help docs could be more thorough on advanced shape logic. Small gripe. Overall, this is the one tool in my stack I have never seriously considered replacing.

What do you like best? Lucidchart has premade templates for flowcharts, diagrams, and many other metrics-based reporting that allows you to easily and professionally display information in a way that executive leadership can see. What do you dislike? I wish there were more templates for knowledgebase type structures and customer service-facing roles. This really does the job when conveying reporting but sometimes I have to create my own which can be time consuming.

What do you like best? Lucidcharts are amazing. I like that I can have lines connect to the objects themselves, and they stay connected when moving the elements around. I've mapped a couple of our Network setups along with mapping out some future programming projects. I love how I'm not fighting with lucidharts but just diagramming things in a very intuitive way. What do you dislike? I've tried developing my own library elements in Adobe illustrator, but when importing, all of my circles or rounded shapes do not come through. I'm not sure the reason for this, but I haven't had the time to look into it.
