What is Palatial?
Palatial is a technology company that specializes in automated tools for 3D world-building and digital twin creation. Founded in 2022 by Lucy Yu and others, the company aims to simplify the process of creating immersive environments, similar to how WordPress facilitates website development. Palatials tools are designed to convert real-world spatial data into interactive digital experiences, making them valuable for industries like architecture, urban planning, and entertainment. The company offers no-code, customizable solutions that enhance the efficiency and quality of 3D projects, particularly for users of Unreal Engine. Their services include automated digital twins, which provide realistic simulations, and optimization tools that significantly improve project performance. These tools can reduce draw calls, increase frames per second, and decrease scene sizes, leading to faster development and cost savings. Palatial prioritizes user-centered development, having conducted extensive research to ensure their tools meet the needs of developers and designers across various sectors.

“Scaling a design platform across a firm this size is…”
Scaling a design platform across a firm this size is where most tools quietly fall apart. Palatial hasn't. When my team was four people using it for individual Unreal Engine projects, it was already excellent. Now, with close to forty designers and coordinators touching the same digital twin pipelines, it still holds together in ways that genuinely impress me. Onboarding new staff is fast. The no-code environment means junior team members get productive without a long runway, and the automated optimization tools (draw call reduction especially) became a shared standard that kept everyone's outputs consistent without heavy policing.
Five years in, the thing I appreciate most is how little the core workflow has degraded under load. Performance gains from the scene optimization have scaled proportionally, not shrunk as project complexity grew. Customer support has been responsive when we pushed edge cases during our enterprise rollout, and the value relative to custom pipeline development is hard to argue with. A genuinely strong product that's grown alongside my team rather than fighting it.
