PyroCCS

PyroCCS is a ClimateTech startup based in Germany that specializes in Biochar Carbon Removal (BCR) solutions. The company focuses on empowering countries in the Global South by developing projects that convert waste biomass into biochar through affordable pyrolysis solutions. This initiative addresses climate change while supporting sustainable development goals and creating economic opportunities in regions that are most affected by climate issues. The company offers a range of services, including biomass evaluation, the design and manufacture of pyrolysis machinery, and a digital monitoring system called dMRV+. PyroCCS collaborates with local partners to implement projects that utilize agricultural waste for biochar production, aiming to reduce emissions and improve local health conditions. They produce high-quality biochar with a carbon content of 92 or higher, suitable for various applications, and are actively engaged in projects across Namibia, India, and Malaysia. PyroCCS plans to scale its operations significantly, with a goal of establishing 550 plants by 2028.
