The script analysis feature inside Movie Magic Screenwriter is the one thing that keeps me coming back, even when I'm frustrated with everything else. For a film studies program, being able to break down scene structure, character arcs, and dialogue density in a teaching context is genuinely useful. Students can load a script and I can walk them through the analysis layer by layer. It's deep. Probably too deep for beginners, honestly, but for advanced coursework it earns its place on the syllabus.
That said, three years in, the pricing and licensing model still feels designed for studio professionals, not nonprofits or academic departments scraping together annual budgets. Getting multiple seats approved is a recurring headache. The interface hasn't aged well either, and onboarding new students every semester is slower than it should be. Customer support has been hit or miss, occasionally responsive, sometimes just quiet. The analytical depth is real, but whether it justifies the cost for an underfunded program is a question I keep asking myself at renewal time.
