Edge cases are where scheduling software either earns your trust or quietly destroys it. Two years of running shift coverage for a growing team, and Indeavor has mostly earned mine. The automation is genuinely impressive once you have your qualification rules and role hierarchies dialed in. Supervisors stopped firing off frantic messages to me every time someone called in sick, because the system surfaces the right person automatically. That alone bought back hours every week. The mobile app, Indeavor Engage, gets used. People actually check their schedules on it, swap shifts without my involvement, and submit time-off requests without hunting me down. For a team our size, that adoption rate surprised me.
Where things got bumpy was in the genuinely unusual scenarios. We had a stretch where two senior roles had overlapping qualification requirements and overlapping shift conflicts at the same time. The system defaulted to a resolution I wouldn't have chosen, and there was no straightforward way to configure a priority rule that covered that specific combination. I spent a frustrating afternoon with their support team working through it. They were helpful, patient, and eventually got us to a workaround, but it felt like the edge-case handling could use more granular controls for smaller, more complex operations.
The integration with our HR system also took longer to stabilize than the sales conversation suggested. Not a dealbreaker, but budget extra time for setup if your data is messy coming in. Overall, Indeavor does what it promises for the core use case, and their team is genuinely responsive when things get weird. If you're scaling fast and need automation that keeps pace, it's worth a serious look.
