Five years of filing multi-state returns as a solo operator, and the one thing that keeps me anchored to Avalara is their support team. Genuinely. I had a nexus classification question last spring that would have taken me days to untangle on my own. I submitted a ticket, got a knowledgeable rep on the phone within a few hours, and we worked through it together. Not a canned answer. Actual back-and-forth with someone who clearly knew the material. That has been my consistent experience, not a fluke.
The product itself handles what I need: AvaTax calculates accurately across the states where my clients operate, CertCapture keeps my exemption certificates organized without the folder chaos I used to live in. Occasionally the interface feels like it was built for companies ten times my size, which can be disorienting. But whenever I hit a wall, support brings me back up to speed fast. For a one-person shop managing compliance for a handful of clients, that kind of responsive help is worth every dollar of the subscription.
