Solo consulting work lives and dies by how well your tools talk to each other. RAMAS has been a genuinely pleasant surprise on that front. The population modeling and ecotoxicology modules pull in data I've already prepped in Excel without much fuss, and exporting results to formats my clients can actually open has never been a real headache. For a one-person operation juggling multiple species assessments at once, that friction-free handoff to reporting tools matters more than most people mention in reviews.
That said, I do wish the integration story extended a little further. There's no direct connection to GIS platforms I rely on regularly, so I'm still doing a manual export-import dance more often than I'd like. It's manageable, but it slows me down on deadline days. Everything else, the depth of the probabilistic risk tools especially, has held up solidly over the past year. For environmental scientists working independently, this is a serious piece of software that treats you like one.
