Vertex's integration story is the main reason I've stuck with it for two years as a solo consultant. It plugs into my accounting software, my e-commerce platform, and even the invoicing tool I use for international clients without much fuss. The connectors are well-documented, and when I set up a new integration last spring, it took maybe an afternoon instead of the week I'd mentally budgeted. For someone running everything alone, that kind of reliability matters more than any single feature on the list.
My one real gripe is that a couple of older integrations feel like they were built years ago and nobody went back to polish them. The data sync occasionally hiccups, and support, while knowledgeable, is clearly sized for enterprise clients. Wait times when I've needed help on an integration issue have been frustrating. Still, the core product does what it promises, and the integrations coverage is broader than anything else I tested before committing.
