Review Summary
Generated using AI from real user reviews
Checkster earns overwhelming user praise for time savings and ease of use, but faces serious accusations around fraud detection accuracy and accessibility compliance.
Recruiters and hiring managers consistently report that the platform dramatically cuts reference-check turnaround from weeks of phone tag to days. Users highlight the intuitive interface, automated reminders, detailed reporting, and the ability to customize questions for different roles. Customer support is frequently mentioned as responsive and helpful. The system also appeals to references, who can respond on their own schedule rather than via interrupting phone calls, and many users note this flexibility yields more candid feedback.
However, a small but damaging set of reviews describes applicants being wrongly flagged for fraud—sometimes for using the same device across multiple legitimate references—resulting in job losses. One applicant with disabled clients reported the form was inaccessible to screen-reader users and appeared designed to force negative answers. A final reviewer raised concerns that the platform requests medical information from references, which may violate privacy laws.
The gap between high satisfaction among recruiters and serious complaints from job applicants suggests the product works well operationally but may have critical flaws in fraud logic and legal compliance that disproportionately harm candidates.

I like the fact that Checkster is a user friendly software. Applicants find it easy to enter their information and send emails to their references. Checkster is a huge time saver as opposed to spending hours on the phone trying to check reference for applicants.

“Very user friendly for me and the reference giver. It's…”
Very user friendly for me and the reference giver. It's nice that it is more of a survey. I also like knowing it was done by the correct person, no suspicious activity shown. It appears more professional as well. I like that I get an email letting me know the moment a reference has been completed as well. It saves me time on checking back in. I also like to be able to send the reminder notification in case they forgot. It saves alot of time and is easy for the user and the receiver to complete and process the information. It is clean and professional looking. All around a great tool for referencing.

I really appreciate that Checkster does mostly all of the work for me in completing a reference check for staff members. It is a very simple process from start to finish. Only one time have I had to call to get assistance because the site wasn't taking payments. I have saved so much time while completing the on boarding process with our new hires since we started using Checkster.

The ease of use is wonderful. References like it because they can reply at a time convenient for them...never interrupted with a phone call. The answers tend to be more candid. Email reminders sent automatically allows me to focus on other things. Potential fraud alerts warn us if the candidate is trying to bypass the system. The reports are crisp and clean and very thorough. Allows the process to take place behind the scenes. We have found our time freed up instead of running after references. The anonymity means references are being more truthful even if the response happens to be negative. Our clients appreciate the honest feedback.

Checkster saves time and is very simple to use when conducting reference check. I don't dislike anything - the website is very straight forward and simple to use. I am able to see whether or not a consultant has completed the reference check themselves. It is beneficial to have that upper-hand.

The fact that I am no longer wasting time making phone calls. Spending time on those calls, or trying to reach someone without any luck takes time from my other tasks and Checkster frees up that time. It is also very informative, some references may not be completely honest in a phone interview, but feel more comfortable online.

“This is a real question that they ask referees: “Given…”
This is a real question that they ask referees: “Given the importance of WHS are you aware of any injury/illness that may prevent (candidate) from working? If yes please provide details.” Surely this is illegal, it’s definitely unethical. A person’s medical details should be private, not finessed from a third party by a poorly designed survey.
