Methodology: Through our academic research we found it's nearly impossible to score a risk tolerance questionnaire on preferences alone. Preferences change all the time. Totum scores an investors preferences to find out their willingness to take risk... how much risk they want to take today and an investors capacity to find our how much risk they can take based on their life situation. Finally, Totum scores the investors portfolio to show whether they are invested correctly or not. Totum's questionniare model is scores to find the total loss an invesor is willing to take over a 12 month period. Totum's portfolio algorithm looks at total daily returns going back to the year 2000. (the rest of the algo is proprietary) Why Risk Capacity? It's relates to the clients life situation and on average a household has one life event annually that will impact their investment risk. This should be part of an advisors annual review.
